"Richard and Connie Dowling have been a part of my family’s life since 1996 when my oldest son (who is now a junior in college) began taking piano lessons. Since that time, all of my children have taken piano lessons, 2 with Connie and 2 with Richard. I can’t say enough good things about these two very special teachers. Their knowledge of music is remarkable and their ability to share this knowledge with their students is amazing. They teach with an extremely non-threatening style that is encouraging and never critical. In addition, their faith and Christianity are evident in their demeanor which is something we value very much. All of our children began their lessons around the age of 7 and never once did any of them ask to quit taking lessons. Certainly there were times of complaining about practice, but as they grew older and more skilled, they realized what a joy it is to be able to play all their favorite songs on the piano. We have 4 boys who have come to love not only playing the piano, but also music in general, and I believe this is largely due to the Dowlings’ influence on them. My two oldest are now in college and, although they are no longer able to take lessons, they continue to play piano at college whenever they get a chance, and sit down at our piano the moment they are home for a visit. This, I believe, is truly a gift to have and something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
